In addition to non-contentious copyri ght work, we represent clients in copyright infringement actions. Our aim in any commercial disputes is to manage the expectations of our clients. The costs of litigation can accrue very easily and we tend to charge our clients in stages. In that way, our clients will not be faced with a huge bill at the end of the case. Wherever possible, and provided it is in our client’s best interests, we would encourage clients to settle their cases. We spearhead such negotiations on behalf of our clients.

We advise that you enter into well drafted agreements to avoid unnecessary disputes. Ensure that you are adequately protected at the outset of negotiations with third parties. We can draft such agreements on your behalf.

With regards to ownership of copyright in music and films, we advise on a number of such deals, including clearance of IPRs for use in media. This is crucial because typically you must own the IPRs before you would attract funding or be able to start exploiting the music or film in question.
