Employment Law – Statutory Sick, Maternity, Paternity and Adoption Pay – Rate Change

There have been a number of recent changes to statutory sick pay, maternity pay, paternity pay and adoption pay. In April 2009 the draft Social Security Benefits Up-rating Order was published. The document contained information relating to a revised rate for weekly of statutory sick pay, statutory maternity pay, statutory paternity pay and statutory adoption pay.

These rates are now applicable for 2009 to 2010. Accordingly, the following rates should now be adhered to by employers:
 

  • The weekly rate of statutory sick pay is now £79.15 (up from £75.40);
  • The weekly rate of statutory maternity pay is now £123.06 (up from £117.18);
  • The weekly rate of statutory paternity pay is now £123.06 (up from £117.18); and
  • The weekly rate of statutory adoption pay is now £123.06 (up from £117.18).
