Facts Sheet
Trade Mark Renewal
Once your trade mark is registered it lasts for 10 years. You have to renew it every ten years to keep it in force. You can keep a trade mark indefinitely, as long as you keep renewing it.
You can renew your trade mark registration any time up to 6 months before the renewal date – which is the anniversary of the filing date. Our attorneys will endeavour to remind you as early as possible.
There is a renewal fee payable. Once this is paid to the requisite trade mark registry, your registration will continue for another 10 years. You will obtain a Renewal Certificate.
If you fail to renew your trade mark registration, the registration will lapse. You have a six months grace period from the renewal date to restore your registration, but there are additional costs for late renewal.
