Property – Paying your Stamp Taxes Online

HM Revenue and Customs have constructed a new online service for filing Land Transaction Returns at Stamp Taxes Online Service. It has also provided guidance on how to complete the form on its FAQ page.

This service is a secure method of viewing your data and sending a Land Transaction Return online. The form can be submitted at any time, it is easy to use and in the majority of cases will calculate your tax liability for you.

HMRC has confirmed that the online service can be used for most transactions, including linked transactions. Returns can now be filed for multiple properties and parties.

Other key features of the online service include:- - SDLT forms 1, 2, 3, & 4 can be completed online;

- partially completed forms can be saved and returned to later;

- up to 99 properties and 99 purchaser or vendors (of any combination) can be registered;

- online validation of data;

- agents can send a copy of the Return to their clients for approval without and effective date, and can later insert the effective date on submission.

Please see the Stamps Taxes Online Service for instructions on how to register and complete the forms. If you require further information contact us at [email protected]
